Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel

After residing in places such as France and New York City, Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel now proudly calls Cincinnati his home. He has single-handedly impacted the city through his influence as chef de cuisine at the infamous Maisonnette, active involvement with local charities, and instructional position to pass on his cooking expertise to students as chef-in-residence at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State.

As these are just a few examples of Cavel’s dedication to the city, it is no wonder he told NPR in an interview that he has spent the past two decades in Cincinnati because he believes that “you can make a difference here.”
